Engineering sustainable, eco-friendly construction projects

If you are looking to make your build more eco-friendly, we can provide sustainable structural engineering input to your project.

Supporting Sustainable Construction

We regularly work alongside architects and construction companies that put a focus on sustainability within their business operations.

Adopting more sustainable practices is increasingly important, as the bar for construction regulations and meeting client expectations gets raised continuously.

Our structural engineering input can help you make more sustainable choices when it comes to increasing energy-efficiency and minimising environmental pollution.

Experienced Sustainable Engineering

We regularly engineer commercial and residential buildings that incorporate eco-friendly and energy-efficient materials. We have also delivered numerous projects that utilise sustainable Modern Methods of Construction.

Our project experience ranges from bespoke residential homes and pre-fabricated buildings, to larger scale commercial and school projects.

Off Site Modern Methods of Construction

Whether you are looking to have recycled materials pre-cut off-site, or a complete home extension pre-fabricated in a factory, we can engineer it for you.

Our experience includes commercial projects built with Structural Insulated Panel (SIPS) and other modular and panelised building systems. Also more eco-friendly concrete build methods, such as volumetric and flat slab construction for wall, floors and staircases.

Off Site Engineering Design and Installation

If you are looking to have a modular building or unit pre-fabricated off-site, we can provide in-house expertise for both the design and installation.

We can also work alongside your off-site design specialist to engineer and supervise the installation of pre-fabricated building and car park systems.

Environmental benefits of off site construction include:

  • Reduced waste and energy consumption
  • Lighter and more eco-friendly materials
  • Fewer deliveries/transport emissions
  • Shorter and more predictable build times

Sustainable Building Materials

We have extensive experience in engineering projects using Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF). ICF is not only a sustainable and cost-effective construction method, it is also energy-efficient and can create more eco-friendly buildings.

A robust and scalable Modern Method of Construction, ICF blockwork is well suited to both residential and commercial projects.

We have worked with a number of different ICF systems, including 100% recycled products such as Ecobrix and Nudura. Also offsite ICF systems that are pre-cut in the factory ready for installation on site. This approach lowers construction times even further and reduces the waste generated on-site.

Timber-Frame and Cross-Laminated Timber

We also engineer timber-framed and Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT) buildings of every scale for commercial and residential projects.

Both timber-framed and CLT buildings offer a sustainable alternative to traditional construction materials, contributing to lower carbon emissions, energy efficiency, and eco-friendly building practices.

Whether you are designing a bespoke residence or a large commercial development, we can engineer your project in your preferred materials. If you are unsure which sustainable materials to use, please get in touch to discuss your project with an engineer.

Renewable and Low Energy Systems

As we are all aware, the drive to reduce energy-consumption and adopt cleaner forms of energy is in the forefront of many people’s minds.

Which is why we are seeing an increase in the residential and commercial clients seeking to improve thermal efficiency in both renovation and new build projects. Also the introduction of low and renewable energy sources.

We regularly engineer projects that include solar PV panels and heat-pumps, as well natural and hybrid ventilation systems.

Plant rooms and vehicle charging points are also becoming common features within sustainable building projects.

Engineering Your Sustainable Build Project

Whether you are retro-fitting to improve the thermal-efficiency, or building a Passivhaus from scratch, RYALL Structural Engineers will design your project to the highest standards.

If you are embarking on an eco-friendly build project and need sustainable structural engineering input, please get in touch. Our engineering team would welcome the opportunity to provide input and advice. For full details of our structural and civil engineering services, click here.
